Blepharoplasty
in Dallas, TX

The eyes are one of the first features people notice about you. Unfortunately, they are also one of the first features that begin to display signs of aging, from drooping eyelids to persistent under-eye bags that make you look tired, stressed, or older than you feel. Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that restores a brighter, more refreshed eye appearance for an alert look that still feels natural and uniquely you.

What Is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a plastic surgery procedure commonly used to address signs of aging and improve the appearance of the eyelids. Over time, the delicate skin around the eyes can begin to sag or become puffy. During eyelid surgery, excess skin and fat are removed, and fat pads and muscle are repositioned.

There are two types of blepharoplasty:

Upper Blepharoplasty

Upper eyelid surgery focuses on excising loose, extra skin that may cause drooping in the upper eyelids. In some cases, sagging skin can interfere with vision. Upper blepharoplasty restores a smoother eyelid contour and can make the eyes appear more open and refreshed.

Lower Blepharoplasty

Lower eyelid surgery addresses under-eye bags, puffiness, and loose skin beneath the eyes. This procedure involves repositioning or removing small fat deposits under the eyes and tightening the surrounding tissues to create a smoother transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek.

Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper or lower eyelids, or on both at the same time, depending on your needs and goals.

What Are the Benefits of Blepharoplasty?

Belpharoplasty offers a variety of benefits, including:

  • Brighter, more refreshed-looking eyes
  • Reduced under-eye bags and puffiness
  • Smoother eyelid contours
  • Reduced eye fatigue and strain
  • Potential improvement in peripheral vision (for upper eyelid procedures)
  • More alert and youthful facial appearance
  • Increased confidence
  • Long-lasting results

Because the eyes play such a vital role in facial expression, even subtle improvements can create a meaningful difference in how rested and vibrant a person looks. Many patients report that after blepharoplasty, they look less tired and more like themselves again.

Am I a Candidate for Blepharoplasty?

You may be a good candidate for eyelid surgery if you are bothered by sagging skin, under-eye bags, or puffiness around the eyes.

Ideal candidates typically:

  • Are in good overall health
  • Have excess upper eyelid skin or drooping lids
  • Have puffiness or bags under the eyes
  • Do not smoke or are willing to quit
  • Have reasonable expectations for results

Blepharoplasty is commonly performed on patients in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond, but younger patients may also benefit, especially if under-eye bags run in their family.

During your consultation, Dr. Bedolla will listen to your goals, evaluate your facial anatomy, and discuss your options.

How Is Blepharoplasty Performed?

Blepharoplasty is an outpatient procedure performed under general or local anesthesia. Surgery can take about one to two hours, depending on the complexity of the treatment plan.

For upper eyelid surgery, Dr. Bedolla makes a small incision within the natural crease of the upper eyelid. Through this incision, he can carefully reposition or remove excess skin and small amounts of fat. Finally, the incision is closed with fine sutures that typically heal with minimal visible scarring.

For lower eyelid surgery, the incision may be placed just below the lower lash line, or inside the eyelid itself (the transconjunctival approach). This allows Dr. Bedolla to address fat deposits that create under-eye bags while tightening the surrounding tissues when necessary.

What Is Recovery Like for Blepharoplasty?

In the first several days after surgery, you can expect mild swelling, bruising, and temporary tightness around the eyes. Keeping your head elevated while you rest can help minimize swelling during the early stages of recovery.

Most patients feel comfortable returning to desk work within one to two weeks. Strenuous activity, rigorous exercise, and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks. Makeup should not be worn until after the incisions have sufficiently healed, and contact lenses should be avoided for at least two weeks. Wait until you’re cleared by Dr. Bedolla before you resume the use of either.

Dr. Bedolla and his team will provide detailed postoperative instructions and closely monitor your progress. Follow your aftercare instructions carefully and attend all follow-ups to ensure you have a smooth recovery.

What Results Can I Expect From Blepharoplasty?

Initial results are obscured by swelling, but as it dissipates, your early results will begin to reveal themselves. Patients typically notice brighter, more open-looking eyes and a smoother eyelid contour.

Upper eyelid surgery often creates a more defined eyelid crease and restores a refreshed, alert appearance. Lower eyelid surgery reduces under-eye bags and delivers a smooth, rested look.

Blepharoplasty results are typically long lasting. In order to preserve your smooth, refreshed eye area, use high-quality skincare products and, most importantly, protect your eyes from UV rays with sunscreen and sunglasses.

How Much Does Blepharoplasty Cost in Dallas?

The cost of blepharoplasty in Dallas varies depending on factors such as whether upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, or both procedures are performed. Additional factors include anesthesia and facility fees, the surgeon’s experience, and whether you combine your eyelid surgery with other procedures.

During your consultation, Dr. Bedolla will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your goals, provide a detailed cost estimate, and happily answer your questions pertaining to cost or your procedure overall.
